Ronald Freeland

Former Mid-Atlantic District Director for T.Y. Lin International and MdTA Executive Secretary Ronald L. Freeland spent more than two decades in public service, much of it with Maryland transportation-related agencies. Mr. Ronald Freeland is known as one of Maryland's most accomplished transportation professionals. His expertise include, but are not limited to: being a first-class manager, financial expert and transportation innovator. Mr. Freeland played an integral role over three decades in shaping Maryland's transportation network. From 1982 to 1991, Freeland was an MdTA board member and was appointed in 1995 to head the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. He moved over to run the Maryland Transit Administration in 1997 and remained there until 2001. From 2001 until his February 2007 appointment to head the MdTA, Freeland held executive management positions with Parsons Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., specializing in transportation projects.
Deputy Transportation Secretary Harold M. Bartlett will serve as acting MdTA executive secretary while a search is conducted for a permanent agency head.
He enjoys retirement and serving as Secretary of the Board for Emmanual Health Education, Inc.
